Day 25: Thu 3 Aug: Karlstad to Karlskoga
Cycle: 92 km - Total so far: 1,071
km
Start time: 8:25am
Stop time: 3:45pm
Weather: mostly overcast but no rain, 13 to 22deg
We shared the breakfast room with a couple of busloads of Chinese, however it's a big place so was not a problem at all.
Apart from Greg riding off without his panniers, (about 20m) we got away okay and were soon on a nice bike path. In order to avoid busy roads, we had to do a few more km than originally planned. Sometimes it's hard to make a final decision on the best route until you're actually on the ground. We certainly had some variation in the track surface, from cycle highways to forest tracks but none of the numerous options were rough. Although the hills weren't that steep they sometimes went on for a while. We were all a little tuckered out by the time we arrived at the hotel. Coffee options were in short supply today, in fact we didn't find any that were worth stopping for. Most of us have two or three at breakfast so it's not life or death if we don't find anything during the day.
We had morning tea in the forest (minus the coffee) and lunch on the banks of the canal at Kristinehamn. We then headed for Degerfors, which is on the same lake as our stop for the night. The last 8km was a lovely separate bike path beside the road. Always good to finish on a high note.
Caught up for pre-dinner drinks in the hotel lobby and then had a lovely pasta
for Wendy and Salmon for Greg at Joan's across the road.
