Day 7: Sun 16 Jul: Aarhus

Weather: rain in the morning clearing to a fine and partly sunny afternoon

Awoke to the most ordinary day with rain on the windows. A lovely slow breakfast (the best thus far) from a very well-stocked buffet. We had planned on riding today but due to the rain decided to take a taxi instead. Our attempts to get a maxi cab failed so had to settle for two cars; not cheap at $60 per taxi ($20/pax) for a 13km trip.

However, it turned out it was worth it as the Moesgaard Museum was excellent. It covered such a wide range of human activity, Nordic and Viking in particular. Grauballe Man - the actual Bog Man, was there, beautifully preserved like it was yesterday he was sacrificed even though it happened about 2,000 years ago.  It is believed the body was preserved by being buried in the peat which prevented oxygen from attacking the body.  It was then into the city, by bus ($4 each) for a wander around. The 3km walk, uphill, back to the hotel was a nice change from peddling.  Dinner was enjoyable; Indian a short walk from the Hotel.
