Day 6: Sat 15 Jul: Frederiksvaerk to Aarhus

Cycle: 64 km - Total so far: 199 km

Start time: 9am
Stop time: 4:15pm
Weather: 12 to 20deg, fine and sunny

Today the planets (aka ferries) needed to line up in order that we reach Aarhus in a timely manner. The first one from Hundested to Rorvig took only 40 minutes while the second one from SJ Odde to Aarhus was 1 hour 15 minutes. We just had time to buy our tickets ($32 for 2pax) and board for the first one while the big one had to be booked on line yesterday or we wouldn't have got on, mainly due to the summer holiday crowd.  The ride was a real mixed bag, but mainly through forests and grain fields. Not too much "civilization" in places. Some dirt tracks with some potholes, but in the main pretty good. A smooth dirt track beats mixing it with the traffic. As usual in this part of the world a few smelly cow and pig barns keep the sinuses clear.  A nice steady climb up to the hotel rounded out the day's ride.

Dinner was an in-house buffet with wonderful fresh salads, veg and as much medium rare Angus roast beef as you wanted.
