Day 2: Tue 11 Jul: Dubai to Copenhagen

Cycle: 9 km (5 miles) - Total so far: 9 km (5 miles)

Well only another seven hours flying to go 👌. Spent a couple of very relaxing and quiet hours wandering and sitting in the well-appointed Emirates Business Lounge, Dubai. Went for a walk to our departure gate to try and catch up with Mick and Kate but couldn't see them. We eventually chatted to them briefly when boarding. Took off and landed on time (1:20pm) after a very smooth and uneventful flight. All went well at the Copenhagen Airport, the taxi supervisor organised a maxi cab for the four bike boxes, us and our luggage (AS$21) and it wasn't long before we were booked into the Park Inn by Radisson Copenhagen Airport (room 104) which is only 3km from the landing point.

After unpacking our luggage we assembled the bikes which had all survived the journey unscathed; that's always a relief.  We couldn't waste fully operational bikes so off we all went on our first ride (for most of us) in Denmark. Ended up next to the ocean not far from the hotel. Many of the locals were also out and about, - cycling, walking, running, swimming, paddling or Segwaying. A cool breeze kept the temperature down around 20 deg. We ended up stopping for an early dinner at a pasta place. Great choice, as we all walked out more than satisfied. Washed it down with a local beer - Tuborg.

Our ride; only 4 hours after we touched down and we picked the right side of the road 👌. Slept well. Kate, Wendy & Mick
