Day 16: Tue 25 Jul: Stenungsund to Haby

Cycle: 86 km - Total so far: 659 km

Start time: 8:25am
Stop time: 3:20pm
Weather: periods of sun and clouds, but pleasant all day, 16 to 22deg

We decided take the longer route today via a couple of substantial islands, Oust and Skafto and we're glad we did. Although "undulating" there were not too many really big or steep ones to ride up. The countryside was nice but the little coves and the views from the high bridges were pretty special. The one ferry we used to get back on the mainland to Fissbo was free.

The whole day was on smooth tarmac either road or off-road. There were a couple of busy sections that had very little verge and it usually occurred when the traffic was at its busiest. Apart from a couple of trucks passing a bit close for comfort, the vast majority of the motorists were patient and careful. The last 10km on route 162 was particularly busy. We all built a little more character today, however, all in all it was a great day.

Our hotel is part of a major rest stop between Gothenburg and Oslo, but the room was well appointed and very quiet. Dinner was taken at the Roadhouse restaurant, and it filled the gap.
